Styles of Accommodation

Glamping accommodation at Elephant Bedroom Camp in Kenya

Why not try a different style of accommodation than you’re use to, step outside your comfort zone

Up to this point, you would probably have decided on the country, attractions and places of interest you want to experience, and suggestions on where to eat. Bundle this all up to hone in on where to select your accommodation. If you are relying on public transport to get around, then find where the nearest train station is or the local bus depot, then that will be your hub and central need for an accommodation base. If you’re opting for hotel or hostel style accommodation, check the guest rating on Google or Trip Advisor first, it may be a great location and very cheap, although the staff might be very rude and non-helpful. For hotel and hostel reservations, the easiest option is to use Booking however I always try for more local authentic accommodation such as guest houses, or some Airbnb’s are hosted by great local hosts that can show you around the area, whilst providing you home cooked meals to experience local culture.

Remember accommodation is just that, a place to rest your head at night and keep your belongings safe and secure. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself finding the right or best accommodation, as you’ll likely not be spending too much time there, well unless that is you’re looking for honeymoon accommodation!

It’s not about how much you sleep. It’s what you do whilst you’re awake
